Assault survivors receive Assistance League kits

May is the month for volunteers from Assistance League to pack kits for assault survivors in Minnesota. In partnership with Minnesota Hospital Association, we provide these kits free of charge to 120 emergency rooms throughout our state.

Our very first Assistance League program, Assault Survivor Kits®️, started in 1992; and that first pack laid the groundwork for what would become a national program for Assistance League. Through the years 34,524 kits have been provided for assault survivors. Today’s cost per kit is approximately $18.40 and includes a shirt, sweatpants, underwear, shampoo, toothbrush, and comb. Assistance League members hope to ease some of the emotional pain felt by assault survivors as their own clothing is taken as evidence.
