Assistance League® in Action: Food Donation

Hallie Q. Brown Community Center in St. Paul put out a call that they needed food for their food shelf.  Assistance League® Minneapolis/St. Paul had food they wanted to get into the hands of those in need.  Quickly, Assistance League members packed up over 300 pounds of food and headed to St. Paul to donate their inventory.

Assistance League Minneapolis/St. Paul has a weekend food program for students when school is in session. Since the school buildings were closed for the pandemic, the food was not being distributed. The staff at the community center were very grateful for the donation as their demand for food has been high.

“We wanted to get the food out into the community where it was needed,” Laurie Lokar, Vice President of Philanthropic Programs for Assistance League commented. “That’s what we are all about – serving our local community and making sure essential needs are met.”
