Assistance League® in Action: New School Clothes

More than 900 school children have new clothing for school thanks to the Assistance League of Minneapolis/St. Paul’s Operation School Bell® clothing program.

This fall students at Maxfield, Riverview and Sheridan Elementary schools received full uniform kits which included three shirts, three pants or leggings, and a sweatshirt. The leggings were new this year in response to schools’ request for an alternative to pants. The clothing program also supported the Nellie Stone Johnson school which was provided school spirit wear by Assistance League for all its staff members and students.

Being responsive to our school partners and meeting their needs for clothing is paramount. Even though in-person distribution of uniforms was not possible, Assistance League worked closely with the schools and provided multilingual order forms for families to facilitate the process. Assistance League member volunteers packed the clothing kits for each student based on the forms and delivered them to the participating schools.

The positive feedback we have received from the schools and students reinforce the importance of being a part of this program. We will continue to be responsive to our partners in addressing their clothing needs.
