Assistance League® Thrift Shop on WCCO

Called out as “one of the best Thrift Shops in the Twin Cities,” our Assistance League Thrift Shop was highlighted by Jennifer Mayerle on the WCCO Saturday Morning show Saturday, September 30th.

Thrift Shop Manager and Assistance League volunteer, Ann Derby, was interviewed by Jennifer in the Assistance League Thrift Shop. They discussed what one can find in the shop, the donations that come into the shop to be sold, the online store, and where the money raised at the shop goes. For over 20 years, the Assistance League Thrift Shop has been open in Richfield, MN. The store recently expanded into a new, larger space and has women’s clothing, men’s clothing, kitchen and household items for sale. All the items in the store are donated and the profits from the shop go right back to the local Minneapolis/St. Paul community. Assistance League of Minneapolis/St. Paul runs programs that provide food and clothing for students, support childhood literacy, recognize academic achievement, fund teacher grants, award scholarships, and a statewide program providing clothing and toiletries to survivors of sexual assault.

The online store run by Assistance League of Minneapolis/St. Paul was also noted. High end and unique items that are valued more than $50 are sold online at https://www.ebay.com/str/shopalmplsstpaul. Ann shared with Jennifer that if someone is interested in an online item, they can ask to look at or try it on at the Richfield store before buying it. Purchases from this online shop also support Assistance League’s community programs.

The thrift shop is open Wednesday through Saturday, 11am to 4pm at 6412 Penn Ave South in Richfield. Donations are also taken during these hours. Learn more about the shop at https://www.assistanceleague.org/minneapolis-st-paul/thrift-shop/.

For over 25 years, Assistance League of Minneapolis/St. Paul has been actively working to reduce the barriers to success for children and adults by supporting their essential needs.  Assistance League is an all-volunteer nonprofit whose 200 member volunteers design and manage the programs based on community partner input.
