VVV Mary Kay Simon, December 2023

A question to ask our December Very Valuable Volunteer is, “What do you do to fuel your perseverance and creativity?” Since neither of these skills can be taught, but are on display as a member of the Marketing Committee, she commands both our admiration and respect. Not one to say “no” this volunteer is known for pushing through and finishing the job at hand. Her steadfastness and efforts, however, have not gone unnoticed.

As a member of the Assistance League since 2017 she generously shares her time, talent and expertise. This volunteer has written copy for the last 3-4 years for our Annual Report, which is not an easy job! She not only writes copy that appropriately reflects our chapter, but also has to make sure that all the facts and data are correct. Once a draft is completed the task of reviewing comments and diligently incorporating useful input is required. Then consideration is given to ensuring that the revised copy fits into the layout design.

This year our volunteer reached out to the teacher at Richfield High School who received a Links to Learning grant for a Boundary Waters trip. She arranged an interview with him, and secured permission & photographs of the worthwhile adventure. The payoff of going above and beyond, resulted in an appealing and memorable Annual Report.

Her impact as a volunteer, whether it be doing whatever is asked by the Marketing Committee, working routinely in the back room of the Thrift Shop or responding to a call for volunteers to complete Assault Survivor Kits, is remarkable and priceless.

Our December 2023 Very Valuable Volunteer, Mary Kay Simon, delivers for the Assistance League time after time.
Congratulations!
