Clothing & Basic Needs

Operation School Bell® Clothes for Kids and Start Smart

Operation School Bell Clothes for Kids partners with Minneapolis, St. Paul, and Richfield Public Schools to provide new school clothing to children. The goal of this program is to ensure that every child has access to new, personally selected school clothing.

Food for kids

Operation School Bell® Food for Kids

Many students in our community look to their schools to provide them with nutritious meals during the week so they are ready and able to learn. Operation School Bell Food for Kids was established in 2012 to meet the growing need for food during the weekends. Assistance League volunteers pack bags of food each week for participating schools.

Literacy

Operation School Bell® Literacy+ and Our School Reads

Assistance League recognizes that students who are good readers have a greater chance for academic success. Operation School Bell Literacy+ volunteers meet weekly to provide one-on-one literacy mentoring for second grade students at Bethune Arts Magnet School.

Teacher's Grants

Operation School Bell® Links to Learning

Assistance League of Minneapolis/St. Paul offers grants to teachers in the Minneapolis School District, the Richfield School District, and St. Paul Public Schools. These grants, which range up to $1000, are used to fund enrichment projects outside the standard curriculum.

Student Recognition

Scholarships and Operation School Bell® Academic All Stars

Postsecondary scholarships are awarded for 2- and 4-year colleges, technical schools and certificate programs. The goal of Operation School Bell Academic All Stars is to encourage students in grades K-5 to continue on a path to educational success. The program recognizes students for achievements in areas such as academics, behavior, and attendance as determined by school staff.

Assault Survivor Kits®

Assistance League Assault Survivor Kits®

Sexual assault survivors are often discharged from emergency rooms with only a hospital gown to wear because their clothes are needed as evidence. Since 1993, Assistance League volunteers have helped to ease some of the immediate stress and emotional pain by providing Assault Survivor Kits.
