Operation School Bell®

Children who go to school without adequate clothing often suffer low self-esteem. Students in five elementary schools are identified by Mobile County public school counselors and given needed uniform items through Operation School Bell supplied by Assistance League of Mobile volunteers. A summer reading book is also given to each child in all five schools.

Assault Survivor Kits®

Assault Survivor Kits help to restore dignity to victims of assault by providing clothing and personal hygiene items. Items are given to victims when they present to the University of South Alabama Medical Center. Victims are also counseled by the Life Lines Rape Crisis Center.

Tender Loving Care Dolls

Members meet weekly to make Tender Loving Care handmade therapy dolls that are distributed to children in two area hospitals and also the Child Advocacy Center. The dolls were designed by a counselor and feature a happy face on one side and a sad face on the other side. They provide comfort to children that have experienced a traumatic event or hospital stay.

Outreach Program: Victim Service Project

The Victim Service Project provides a personal hygiene kit and clothing to victims of crime who are coming to testify in court to allow them to be appropriately dressed and clean. This project is conducted in partnership with the Mobile District Attorney’s office.

Outreach Program: Backpacks and School Supplies

Leinkauf Elementary School reached out to Assistance League with a need for backpacks and supplies for students in need. A total of 55 backpacks were purchased and filled by members with school supplies that were needed for the fall.
