]]> Assisteens held neighborhood book drives for Operation School Bell and donated those books at our All Assisteens Meeting. 7th grade Assisteen, Keira Fiore, collected 91 books! In addition, she labeled them with Assistance League stickers and wrote the reading level of each book on the inside cover. ]]> Our 7th grade Assisteens did Summer Buckets of Fun in collaboration with Project Hope Alliance. Our goal was to bring visibility, awareness, and hope to over 30,000 youth experiencing homeless across Orange County. We want all children to have a safe, healthy, and happy Summer!

On Saturday, February 29, Assistance League of Newport-Mesa volunteers met in the banquet room to work on Assistance League ACTION!  Week projects. Our Operation School Bell team determined the needs of the NMUSD school district with input from the school community facilitators.

Project number one: Health Office Emergency Bags – clothes for students in need of a change of clothing while at school. Donated clothing for 6 local elementary school health offices.

Project number two: Supplies provided for 6th Grade Science Camp for 5 local schools- toiletry kits for 165 students (washcloth, body wash, chapstick, wet wipes, toothbrush, toothpaste, and dental floss) an assortment of sleeping bags, jackets, sweatshirts, hats, gloves, and other cold-weather gear.

Project number three: Sorted and packed by size donated tee-shirts and toiletry bags for 60 students heading to science camp at Newport Dunes.

Assistance League of Newport-Mesa participated in the first annual Oasis Senior Volunteer Fair along with 21 other nonprofit groups looking for volunteers.  It was a great way to get our name out in the community, solicit donations for the shops and let people know more about our philanthropic programs.

Member Betsy Hall was happy to educate the community about Assistance League of Newport-Mesa during a Senior Volunteer Fair.
