Veterans’ Baby Shower

We filled up the trunks with gifts at the Veterans baby shower

Assistance League of Reno-Sparks Veterans Outreach members participated in the annual Veterans Administration Sierra Nevada veterans’ baby shower structured as a drive-through in one of the VA Hospital’s parking lots.  The moms and dads drove through at 10-minute intervals and were able to stay in their cars, while Assistance League members showered their trunks and backseats with baby gifts.

Each of the 27 shower attendees received a stuffed diaper bag donated by Assistance League members which included onesies, baby-care essentials, bibs, and receiving blankets.   Three other stations along the drive-through route were set up for the veterans to collect diapers, gift bags with various baby items, prepackaged snacks to go, and beautiful hand-made baby blankets.

Nine additional veterans identified by the Women’s Veterans Program who could not attend had their goodies delivered.
