Assistance League of Reno-Sparks is an all-volunteer service organization supporting community needs through philanthropic programs. Our Academic Enhancement Awards will fund three (3) $10,000.00 awards to teacher teams of four or more to enhance student learning.   Applications must be submitted by September 29, 2023.

Purpose:  To benefit children of the Washoe County School District by  giving educators an opportunity to enhance or develop new and different approaches to teaching and/or giving educators the opportunity to expand existing programs.

Eligibility:  All certified teachers in the Washoe County School District will be eligible.  All team members’ names must appear on the application.   All applicants must be directly related to the project (no administrators, secretaries, etc.).  Applications must be signed by the school principal as an indication of awareness and support of the request.

Project Criteria:  All projects must meet the following criteria:

    1. Based on Nevada Academic Content Standards
    2. Directly involve and benefit students
    3. Focus on student achievement
    4. Have measurable objectives

Project Conditions:

    1. Project applications must be complete and adhere to the above guidelines.
    2. Monies requested should not include sales tax.
    3. Materials and equipment funded by Assistance League of Reno-Sparks for Academic Enhancement program will become the property of the recipients’ Washoe County School District and remain with the recipients’ school.
    4. All projects must be completed within the 2023-2024 school year.
    5. Any unspent funds must be returned to Assistance League of Reno-Sparks by May 17, 2024

Review and Selection:  Applications will be reviewed by the Links to Learning Committee of Assistance League Reno-Sparks.  Successful applicants will receive their awards by mid-October 2023. Higher consideration will be given to projects that benefit more students and schools with higher free and reduced lunch percentages. Teams are encouraged to spend the money as soon as possible.  Funds received should be spent or designated by December 22, 2023.

Evaluation Requirements:  The team will be required to evaluate the impact this award money had on student learning. If your team receives the award, the check presentation will include information on project evaluation.  A member of Assistance League will be contacting the team throughout the year to monitor any issues that may occur. The evaluation will be online when the date for completion is near.  The evaluation due date is April 26, 2024.
