Assistance League Sierra Foothills is celebrating Anne Banning, the founder of Assistance League on her February 25th birthday with a shopping event for disadvantaged children.
Assistance League Sierra Foothills will hold an Operation School Bell® event at the Placerville Walmart on March 1st. 200 students in grades K-8 from all El Dorado County districts except South Lake Tahoe who have been identified by their school will receive $70-$100 in school clothing they select themselves. The chapter has modified the event to minimize individual contact during COVID-19. The students will pre-shop, Assistance League Sierra Foothills will bag and pay for the clothing selected, and school liaisons will deliver the clothing to the students’ schools.
In addition to facilitating the shopping and purchasing of the clothing, our community partner Walmart has donated school supplies. These school supplies will be distributed to the students along with their selected clothing.
