There are thousands of kids in need in southern Utah, and while we help as many as possible each year, there’s clearly more that could be done.
Please continue reading just below, as well as throughout our website, for more information.

Assistance League of Southern Utah

  • 501(c)(3) non-profit all-volunteer organization that strives to transform children’s lives and strengthen community through philanthropic programs.
  • Primary program: Operation School Bell®
  • Yearly provides new school clothes, shoes, and dental hygiene supplies for nearly 1000 kids.
  • Provides around 1700 new books for younger students.
  • Provides volunteers who engage in literacy programs overseen by school counselors and reading specialists. They target early readers at the most critical stages of lifelong reading success.

From a grandmother: “… my granddaughter was over the moon when she was chosen to go shopping for new clothes…you all do make a difference.”
From a teacher: “…many of the children receiving your free books have never owned a book.”

Help us continue our important work. Please consider a donation this year.

You’ll be recognized on our social media pages, newsletters, and website, and have a truly heartwarming experience.

Please email any questions to fundraising@alofsu.org and keep checking on our progress at this website.

Operation School Bell®

Shopping Events

Low income school-aged children receive new clothes, shoes, hand-knitted hats, and dental supplies.
When a child’s basic needs are met, they can focus on their education and have a better opportunity to break the cycle of poverty.

During the past fiscal year, 1017 children from our area received new school clothing, shoes, and supplies.

Action! Week

During Action! Week this school year, Laurie Beebe, Action! Week Coordinator, delivered art supplies to Colorado City and Beryl classrooms.

We look forward to seeing some of their original artwork!

“Research shows that art activities develop brain capacity in early childhood. Art engages children’s senses in open-ended play and supports the development of cognitive, social-emotional, and multisensory skills. As children progress into elementary school and beyond, art continues to provide opportunities for brain development, mastery, self-esteem, and creativity.”

Legacy of Literacy

Books valued at over $4,000 were given to several schools and their students in the southern Utah area.

Some of these books are now in the hands of kids who never had a book of their own…until now!

Elementary Reading

Our member volunteers share reading and books with children in groups as well as individually in several Title 1 schools in the area.

Why Do We Do What We Do?

Every year we help nearly a thousand area kids, but that just scratches the surface.
There are hundreds – no, thousands – of additional kids in need.
