A reading experience not to be missed!
A scenic drive to Beryl’s Escalante Valley Elementary makes for a unique and worthwhile visit. The school, situated among vast agricultural fields, contains only 146 students. On April 22nd, Assistance League® volunteers read to (or met) nearly all of them, from preschoolers to 6th graders. After each reading session, the students posed for a class photo, beaming with wide smiles and proudly holding up their new books.
The volunteers were impressed with the students’ reading skills, and many students helped read the stories out loud. The teachers and students were warm and welcoming, excited to have visitors come to their school. It was so satisfying to know that every single student received a new book they could take home.
