Grant Awarded to Two Programs

Assistance League has been awarded a grant in the amount of $2,485 from the Native Youth Grantmakers Committee Fund at The Inland Empire Community Foundation.  These funds will be used to promote literacy through the Assisteens program, Operation Bookworm, and the Assistance League program, Operation SHADES.

The Assisteens plan to serve additional Head Start students in the Menifee Union School District by providing 220 books. The Operation SHADES program will provide an additional 50 financial literacy books for students in the Temecula Valley Unified School District.  The provision of these additional books will make an impact on the essentials for the transition to adulthood.

The Inland Empire Community Foundation’s Youth Grantmakers (YG) program was created to empower youth to address issues that are important to them by participating in the grantmaking process.  Through the year long program, local high school students become active agents of change, preparing them for responsive community leadership and practical hands-on service.

Many thanks to The Inland Empire Community Foundation’s Youth Grantmakers for their continued support to Assistance League and Assisteens.
