  • Policy Review and Acceptance

    The following policies are reviewed and acknowledged annually. Check the box at the end of each policy to reflect that you have Read and Agree to the policy. A copy of these policies will be provided in the notification email upon receipt of your application and dues payment.
  • Code of Ethics

    Assistance League’s mission can only be realized through a common code of ethics upheld by our members and volunteers.

    • We expect high integrity, honesty and trustworthiness in our work; courage in our decisions and dedication to Assistance League’s values and beliefs.

    • We expect responsible action on behalf of the organization and are accountable and transparent to our constituents and to one another. We share information when appropriate, without sacrificing confidentiality.

    • We expect fairness to be evident in our actions internally and externally. We are equitable in our decisions and mindful of their impact on other groups and people.

    • We expect our actions to demonstrate our care for others and the community as a whole. We support each other in humane manner. We care about the well-being of each other, the community and Assistance League of Sierra Foothills.

  • Donor Privacy Policy

    Assistance League of Sierra Foothills does not copy, reproduce, publish, post, distribute, share or sell the name, personal contact information or description of donations of donors to any outside individual or business. Exceptions share be those required by law, requested in grant applications or in connection with bank credit or debit card transactions that may be made without prior knowledge or consent of donor.

    Assistance League of Sierra Foothills does acknowledge donors by name and/or description of donations, after the donors have given their written permission, in certain printed material such as chapter newsletters brochures, press releases, event invitations or programs, stationery, solicitation letters, the organization’s website or other means of expressing appreciation for the donor’s assistance. A donor wishing to view samples of these publications may do so by contacting the chapter at the address below.

    Assistance League of Sierra Foothills will provide a means for both new and continuing donors to inform the organization if they do not want their names acknowledged on any of the printed materials mentioned above.

    If a donor chooses to opt out of any acknowledgement listing in printed material, the donor’s name and address will be made available only to those members of Assistance League of Sierra Foothills who are responsible for managing the business of the corporation.

    A printed copy of Assistance League of Sierra Foothills Donor Privacy Policy will be made available upon request.

  • Whistle-Blower Policy

    If any board member, staff or volunteer reasonably believes that some policy, practice or activity of Assistance League of Sierra Foothills in in violation of law, a written complaint must be filed by that individual with the Assistance League of Sierra Foothills Board President.

    It is the intent of Assistance League of Sierra Foothills to adhere to all laws and regulations that apply to the organization and the underlying purpose of this policy is to support the organization’s goal of legal compliance. The support of all board members, staff and volunteers is necessary to achieving compliance with various laws and regulations. Any individual is protected from retaliation only if the alleged unlawful acidity, policy or practice is brought to the attention of Assistance League of Sierra Foothills and provides the Assistance League of Sierra Foothills with a reasonable opportunity to investigate and correct the alleged unlawful activity. The protection described below is only available to individuals that comply with this request.

    Assistance League of Sierra Foothills will not retaliate against an individual who in good faith, has made a protest or raised a complaint against some practice of Assistance League of Sierra Foothills, or of another individual or entity with who Assistance League of Sierra Foothills has a business relationship, on the basis of a reasonable belief that the practice is in violation of law, or clear mandate of public policy.

    Assistance League of Sierra Foothills will not retaliate against an individual who discloses or threaten to disclose to a supervisor or a public body, any activity, policy or practice of Assistance League of Sierra Foothills that the person reasonably believes is in violation of law, or a rule or regulation mandated pursuant to law or is violation of a clear mandate or public policy concerning the health, safety, welfare or protection of the environment.

  • Conflict of Interest Policy

    A Conflict of Interest is defined as any situation in which a decision maker is influenced in an organization decision by personal, financial business or other concerns unrelated to the organizations best interest. Conflict of Interest laws generally do not prohibit conflicts of interest but seek to regulate how they are addressed.

    In order to protect the tax exempt status of this chapter, it is important that all volunteers understand the necessity to adhere to the highest standards and practices and to avoid any appearance of personal privilege or gain.

    Members shall not use the chapter roster or mailing lists to promote member’s business other business of family members, friends or others.

    Members shall not distribute promotional material for their own business.

    The chapter shall seek three bids in any situation where a member might benefit from a transaction or contract. A member who might benefit from a chapter transaction or contract shall disclose that fact and excuse herself or himself from any committee or board discussion involving such transaction or contract. The disclosure shall be noted in the minutes of the meeting.

    Care should be taken to avoid any situation which might benefit or appear to benefit any member(s) or chapter volunteers.
