Care Center Residents Receive Birthday Cards

Remembering residents in care centers with Christmas gifts.

As a member of the Care Center Support Committee, Carol Robertson sends birthday cards to residents of care centers in Whatcom County.

Residents in Care Centers in Whatcom County are sent birthday cards“I joined Assistance League in 1997, leaving the Everett chapter which I joined in 1975.  Arriving in Bellingham, I was a full time member, and enjoyed working at the thrift shop. I can no longer work in the thrift shop, so now I am a non voting member and I am so pleased to volunteer for our Care Center Support program.

It is such a joy for me to be able to bring happiness to people who are celebrating their birthdays. I check each month to see who has birthdays. For the women, I send pretty floral cards with matching envelopes; for the men, cards showing sailboats, mountains, fishing, etc. All cards are signed, “Your friends at Assistance League” and are sent three days prior to the birthdate.

I feel that these cards will bring back many happy MEMORIES of birthdays celebrated in the past.”
