The goal of Operation School Bell is to provide new school clothing to children whose families cannot afford necessary clothing for public school in El Paso County.

Children in need are identified by their school administration.  Assistance League members give each child individualized attention with the goal of improving their attendance, academic performance, as well as their self-esteem.

Many elementary public schools in El Paso County require students to wear uniforms.  Some families cannot afford to purchase the required uniforms.   Operation School Bell is here to help.

The children arrive at the Chapter house on 2728 Yandell via school buses from the 9 public school districts in El Paso County.  Each child is greeted by volunteers who work one-on-one to provide them with new clothing.

Clothing is purchased at wholesale with funds raised by our Thrift Shop, grants, generous donations from volunteers, and the El Paso community.   More than 100,000 children have been helped to date.

Each child in grades 1-5 receives:

  • Three pairs of pants

  • Three shirts

  • Underwear and socks

  • One jacket

  • New shoes

  • Hygiene kit
