Philanthropic Programs

Operation School Bell®

This program provides new common dress clothing and hygiene items as requested by in-need schools to children in the Santa Rosa and Roseland School Districts.  They all leave with a huge bag of new clothes, wide grins and a renewed sense of confidence.

Sights and Sounds

Sights and Sounds provides free screening to preschool children in Sonoma County to detect vision and hearing problems.  Our trained volunteers screened 1,131 children attending 38 preschools.

Booster Bags

Booster Bags boosts the spirits of women and children in crisis by providing backpacks/bags containing food, toiletries and clothing.  During the past fiscal year, the program distributed 516 backpacks/bags to YWCA Women’s Emergency Shelter and The Living Room.  Additionally, 71 gift certificates to our Assistance League Thrift Shop and 1,170 bus tickets were provided.

Wee Wardrobe

Wee Wardrobe fills the needs of teen parents participating in the Teen Parent Connections program of the County of Sonoma Department of Health Services.  This past year, this program provided 52 baby layettes and 50 Christmas gifts.

Scholarship

Scholarship provides financial assistance to eligible teen mothers at Santa Rosa Junior College and/or Sonoma State University.  This past fiscal year six scholarships were distributed for a total of $4,500.

Safe Haven

Safe Haven serves women in recovery from addiction at the Women’s Recovery Services.  This past fiscal year 68 women and 30 children participated in the program.  Four dinners for 20 residents were provided which required hands on preparation and exhibited a balanced and healthy diet.  The women were provided with books required by the program to assist in their recovery.
