Estimated Value of Volunteer Hours
Every year, chapter members donate thousands of hours of volunteer time to programs, fundraising and administrative functions to Assistance League. To help ensure that the users of our chapters’ financial statements have a better understanding of the organization’s operations, and what programs and supporting services would cost if the time were not donated, National Assistance League, in accordance with prevailing nonprofit standards, ask Chapters to record the number of hours given in support of our shared mission and to disclose those numbers in applicable financial statements and reporting.
Recently, the Independent Sector and the Do Good Institute at the University of Maryland, announced that the estimate for the national value of a volunteer hour was $33.49 in 2023, a 5.3% increase from 2022.
Please pass this information along to your bookkeepers and CPAs if you have not already done so, and for more information on the Value of a Volunteer hour, you may visit the Independent Sector’s website using this link: https://independentsector.org/resource/value-of-volunteer-time/.
