In 2019-2020 Operation School Bell dressed 515 students

Children who go to school without adequate clothing often suffer low self-esteem.  Students in need of help (K-8th grade) are identified by Chaves County public school personnel and referred to Operation School Bell for appointments to be outfitted with brand NEW clothing with the assistance of  of our caring member volunteers.Schools provide clothing guidelines to Assistance League so that students receive appropriate choices.Operation School Bell is located at the Assistance League of Chaves County chapter house at 2601 Aspen in Roswell, NM.

Each Child Receives:

  • two pairs of jeans or pants
  • a  jacket
  • two shirts
  • six pairs of underwear
  • six pairs of socks
  • a hygiene care kit containing personal items
  • a shoe card for a new pair of shoes – to be redeemed at Target
  • an age-appropriate book of their choice

During the 2019-2020 school year, 515  school students visited Operation School Bell.  The children all left with a huge bag of new clothes, a book, wide grins, and a renewed sense of confidence.  Shoe vouchers were distributed to  all 515 children.
