Action Month is a Wrap!

Our Philanthropic Programs celebrated Assistance League’s founder Ann Banning’s birthday in February with service opportunities all month long!  This event is celebrated across all Assistance League chapters across the nation.  Our members have been simply amazing this entire month proving to children less fortunate that we care!

LUNCH LOVE  Our members have made and delivered 2,430 Sack Lunches for Someone Cares Soup Kitchen in Costa Mesa to date!  WOW, Just WOW! We’ve been providing a nutritious lunch and a positive message on the lunch bag on Fridays since September 2020 for students that do not have access to school lunches over the weekend. For February’s Action Month, our members stepped up their efforts and made 600 lunches.

NMUSD CARE PACKAGES 1,981 total water bottles, protein bars, rain ponchos, earbuds and Dental Center flyers, all labeled with “Assistance League of Newport-Mesa” stickers were delivered to nine local elementary schools at the request of the principals for students in need: Wilson, Rea, Pomona, Whittier, Sonora, Paularino, Adams, Killybrooke and Victoria.

FEED THE FOOD INSECURE Due to our close working relationship with NMUSD management, they identify students and families facing food insecurity. Our members react quickly and have been delivering groceries, essential items, clothing and books to 2 particular families facing tough times due to extended hospitalizations. One of the students was able to make it back to Whittier Elementary just in time for picture day after 7 weeks out due to illness.
