National Assisteens meet at the OU gazebo near Walker Tower Headquarters

Assisteens Conference Held at the University of Oklahoma!

Assistance League of Norman proudly helped host the 2016 Assisteens Conference  at the University of Oklahoma (OU) from June 24-26!  We worked like crazy to make this conference an event to enjoy and remember in a traditional university setting known for its Big 12 Conference athletics and excellence in academics and research.

Based on survey results from previous Assisteens Conferences, we believe most of you were as excited about this change as we were. The new location promises a fresh opportunity to celebrate our 2016 Assistance League theme: The Power of Change.

Founded in 1890, University of Oklahoma is situated on a beautiful, high-energy campus with iconic Cherokee Gothic architecture in the classic college town of Norman.

Those who attended left with new ideas, new friendships, and the unforgettable experience of having been part of a group that values leadership and volunteerism; and supports their talents and passions through participation in breakout sessions, workshops and networking.

Breakout sessions included the most requested topics: effective marketing strategies and the use of social media, the challenges of fundraising and budgeting, honing leadership skills, and how to foster teamwork and communications.

Specialized workshops were also held for coordinators and chaperones, focusing on how to run a successful Assisteens auxiliary, as well as a review of the Assisteens Handbook, and how to increase parent involvement.

University of Oklahoma is a short drive from Will Rogers World Airport in Oklahoma City via United Airlines, Southwest Airlines and other carriers
