Are you a student seeking financial aid to continue your education?

The Process

  1. Scholarships are granted quarterly.
  2. A complete application packet is required. A completed application includes:
    • A completed FAFE application. Apply here
    • Student Information Release Form (found in th application)
    • Academic Plan (found in the application)
    • FAFSA or WASFA that includes Student Aid Index (SAI)
    • Transcript
    • Two letters of recommendation
  3. Send your completed application packet to: fafe@alseattle.org
  4. If approved, an interview will be scheduled.
  5. To apply by mail, send your documents to:  Assistance League of Seattle, Attn: Financial Aid Chair, 1415 N. 45th St., Seattle, WA 98103
  6. To drop off an application in person, visit the Assistance League of Seattle Thrift Shop (address above) during regular business hours (Thurs. – Sat. 12-4 pm)

The Fine Print

  • Funding is $1500 per quarter.
  • Be a King County resident.
  • Be enrolled in or accepted by a King County public college or vocational/technical school. (not a university)
  • Be working toward an associates degree, transfer degree, or vocational/technical certificate.
  • Maintain a 2.5 grade point average and carry and successfully complete a minimum of 10 hours per quarter.
  • Applicant cannot have an associates, BA, BS, MBA or other advanced degree from any US Institution.
  • Applicant cannot have a close relative who is a current member of the Assistance League of Seattle.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who oversees your Financial Aid for Education Program?

Assistance League of Seattle and its Financial Aid program are run 100% by volunteers. The committee chair directs the program and receives emails at fafe@alseattle.org. A liaison will be assigned to each student. We encourage students to pay it forward by also volunteering with us.

Where does the money come from?

All funds come from donations, grants, or our Thrift Shop earnings.

Can I apply at any time of the year?

Applications are reviewed when received and awards are granted quarterly, funding dependent.

If I have a Pell grant or FAFSA aid or loans, can I qualify for your financial aid program?

Yes. Receiving other loans, grants, or scholarships will not disqualify you from this program.
