Greeley – Assistance League of collecting books and snacks for students

Assistance League of Greeley, a nonprofit based in the city, has teamed up with The Human Bean Coffee Shops to collect books and nutritious snacks for students in Title 1 schools in the Greeley area from Feb. 22-26.

Assistance League, which receives its primary funding from sales at the Bargain Box Thrift Store on 9th Street, has been holding a book drive for children for many years. This year, given the economic hardships from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the organization has added nutritious foods to its collection efforts as part of its Hungry Kids Action Week.

“We are so grateful to the Human Bean Coffee Shops for helping us with this remarkable project,” said JoAnn McGrath, president of Assistance League of Greeley. “We want to see smiles on children’s faces as they receive a book to read and a nutritious snack to satisfy their hunger.”

On March 1, Assistance League will connect with local schools to distribute the collected books and snacks so they may be delivered to the students.
