Located at 2711 Buena Vista Avenue in Walnut Creek, Assistance League® of Diablo Valley is a nonprofit, member volunteer organization dedicated to improving lives in our community through hands-on programs. As in previous years, hale and hearty volunteers braved the not always predictable elements when participating in the Holiday Parade of Lights and Tree Lighting on December 1, at Broadway Plaza.
With a banner that boasted the chapter’s approaching 50thAnniversary, members representing a cross section of the organization’s membership marched shoulder to shoulder the entire length of Broadway Plaza, undaunted.
While the Parade of Lights did take place on a school night, the Kids on the Block, a talented troupe who come to life to provide educational puppet shows to thousands of schoolchildren each year, enjoyed the event while riding in festively decorated convertibles. Participants and spectators alike reveled in the music that celebrated holiday cheer and saluted civic pride in Broadway Plaza, Walnut Creek. Assistance League of Diablo Valley is most appreciative of the hands-on support extended by the Broadway Plaza staff.
At the parade’s conclusion, cheers rose from the crowd as a multitude of lights draped around the stately Christmas tree swirled skyward. Reluctant to see the evening come to an end, the member volunteers of Assistance League of Diablo Valley pledged to return for the Parade of Lights and Tree Lighting event in 2017.
