The Assistance League of Greeley has awarded 11 scholarships to single parents who attend Aims Community College or University of Northern Colorado.
This year’s recipients from UNC include: Veronica Garren, Zoe A. King, Kristin Leigh Miller and Diana Silva, stated a news release from the Assistance League of Greeley.
From Aims, the recipients include: Anita Banton, Moria Edwards, Jennifer Gonzalez, Kristen Ann Jones, April Rule, Jessica Speight and Cayti Weber.
The scholarship program began in 1991 and has awarded more than $720,000 in scholarships to single parents, the release stated. The all-volunteer organization raises money to make the scholarships possible through it’s thrift store, The Bargain Box, 1706 9th St. in Greeley.
Scholarship recipients must live in Weld County, be a custodial parent with a minor child living at home at least 50 percent of the time and maintain a 3.0 undergraduate or 3.5 graduate grade-point average.
