Salt Lake City – Recognized by Commission on Youth

The Commission on Youth Awards is celebrating those who make a difference in the lives of local youths.

One recipient of this year’s award was Assistance League of Salt Lake City.

The nonprofit, all volunteer outfit helps less fortunate children in many ways, including raising money for clothing through a thrift shop, as well as pioneering several programs designed to address basic needs.

“We dress elementary school students primarily from Title 1 schools. Over 4,000 students a year we dress them in new clothing, and [give them] toothbrushes, which is often the hit of the whole event, they don’t have to share toothbrushes anymore,” says Kathie Greeno, president of The Assistance League of Salt Lake City.

$0.86 out of every $1.00 donated to the Assistance League goes right into programs to help kids in our community.
