Greeley – Meeting Community Needs

Assistance League of Greeley aspires to meet the challenging needs of individuals through community based philanthropic programs in Greeley and Weld County. The majority of their funds are proceeds from the Bargain Box Thrift Store located at 1706 9th Street in Greeley. Also grants, fundraisers and donations from the general public are greatly appreciated.

Assault Survivor Kits® Program

Since 1995, clothing (underwear, top, and pants) have been provided by Assistance League of Greeley so that victims of assault (men, women, and children) have something clean to wear after their visit to the hospital. Local trained law enforcement personnel require the assault victim’s clothes for evidence. Assistance League of Greeley works with area hospitals which provide the first physical examination to assault victims. Any Weld County assault victim will have access to this program.

Prior to Assistance League of Greeley providing these kits, assault victims usually had to wear medical scrubs home. Although Assistance League of Greeley has no direct contact with these victims, our hope is that the trauma they experienced has been lessened to some small degree by receiving new, clean clothing to wear home from the hospital.

This year, 342 articles of clothing were distributed with a budget of $3,600 through a Weld County Victims and Law Enforcement Board grant which the Assistance League of Greeley administers.

Assistance League of Greeley has 50 dedicated member volunteers who work diligently in the Bargain Box Thrift Store to provide funding for six (6) philanthropic programs. Along with Assault Survivor Kits, they also service Warm Up Weld County, Operation School Bell®, Single Parent Scholarships, Color me Weld and File of Life. Assistance League is always welcoming new members, if you are interested in joining this amazing organization, please call us at 970-353-2226.
