Assistance League of Coppell is collecting children and young adult books for Make A Difference Day on October 22 to support Project Transformation. Project Transformation provides a hands-on service and ministry experience for young adults and serves in some of the poorest neighborhoods in the Dallas area.
The Literacy program has always been a cornerstone of their program and has resulted in significant improvement in the reading ability of their students. Annually, Project Transformation serves over 1,100 children and youth grades 1-12 at 10 summer camps and 7 after-school sites.
In their 18-year history, the organization has equipped over 1,000 young adults for future leadership and has served over 8,000 children and youth. During their 2015 program they had over 1,700 community volunteers serve over 11,500 hours reading one-on-one with children which helped them accomplish 95% of elementary participants either maintain or improve in reading skills; 98% of middle school participants either maintain or improve in reading skills.
They had 75 high school students complete their LITE (Leadership In Training Experience). Join Assistance League of Coppell collect books to support this program by dropping off new or gently used books at PostNet, 110 W. Sandy Lake Road #102 (on the Denton Tap Side) or at the Coppell Community and Senior Center, 345 W. Bethel Road until October 22. MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN A CHILD’S LIFE.
