Assisteens® of Redlands recently held their annual Medallion Dinner and Senior Presentation, honoring members of the class of 2019 for their service to the community.
Senior class members are Julia Macleod, Grace Vogt, Antoinette Schreiber, Amber Chapman, Sophie Aubry, Kenia Garcia, Leslie Roberts, Juliette Scolieri, Kristen Eredics, Melissa Johnson, Natalie Davali, Sean McCarty and Scott Simon.
Assisteens is a teen auxiliary of Assistance League of Redlands, with 129 members in eighth through 12th grade. Members serve the community with volunteer work and by raising money to benefit families in need.
Assisteens do volunteer work in the Assistance League Redlands Thrift Shop and for Family Service Association of Redlands, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater-Redlands-Riverside, Micah House after-school program and the Redlands Bowl, among others. In the past two years, the Assisteens have hosted an International Food Faire fundraiser.
In the 2017-18 school year, the Assisteens gave 3,639.5 hours of volunteer service to the community, according to a press release from the Assistance League.
The group has monthly meetings led by a student governing body under the direction of coordinators Tammy McCarty, Summer Selby and Cathie Siglow, Assisteens Liaison of Assistance League Redlands.
Assisteens will celebrate their 55th anniversary in the 2019-20 school year.
