What a joy it was working with Mercy Housing Projects and the Placer Community Foundation . Funding was provided by the Foundation to purchase toys and books for 37 children who will be moving into the Low Income Mercy Housing Project in Auburn. A big thank you to Target Auburn for their generous discounts for the books and toys and to Target’s Hannah Jones & Blake Guillan for their help. Thanks also to Jessica Magno, the manager from Smart & Final, for assistance in purchasing 79 $15 gift cards for all the families moving into the apartments. Our Chapter was asked to do the shopping and wrapping of the presents and it was fun! A special thanks to Janice Carey, Barbara Wilbur and Paulette Benedict for doing the shopping, and thanks also to the 15 special volunteers who gathered to wrap all the presents. Everything was picked up by Stephan Thomas, Resident Service Manager of Mercy Projects, and Erica Plumb, Assistant Director of Supportive Services of Mercy Projects. The Holidays will be so much brighter for these families because of this heartwarming project!
