Assistance League of Greater San Diego has been an agent for good in San Diego since 1965.  Today the chapter has more than 200 members who last year contributed more than 25,000 volunteer hours valued by the US Department of Labor at $630,500. The organization employs no paid staff; every administrative, fundraising and philanthropic effort is managed and staffed by member volunteers.

Membership is open to those who wish to be of service to our community and have the time, creativity and passion to volunteer. Our programs are tailored to meet the needs of our community and provide an ideal venue for those seeking fulfillment from helping others.

Membership Expectations

  • Attend regular and special meetings of the membership
  • Support the mission of the chapter
  • Commit to participate in one or more committees and/or philanthropic programs
  • Staff our Thrift Shop as part of a once-a-month shift or as a substitute
  • Pay annual dues of $70
  • Purchase at least one ticket to periodic official fundraising events approved by the membership

Membership Applications

New members are accepted on an ongoing basis. A prospective member event is held in the spring. Training sessions for new members begin in summer and winter.

Worker of Wonder

Sometimes, there is a member who has taken an active role in leadership, and whose contributions have gone above and beyond expectations. Our chapter honors such individuals with the “Worker of Wonder Award.” These members truly deserve a “WOW!”

Women in Business Aiding Community (WIBAC)

WIBAC (Women in Business Aiding the Community), an auxiliary of Assistance League of Greater San Diego, is comprised primarily of professional women. Members support philanthropic projects of the Chapter and raise funds which are presented to the chapter each year to help with one or more of its programs.
