ASSISTEENS®

ALGSD’s Assisteens® auxiliary welcomes teen volunteers, grades 7-12, from various schools throughout the San Diego area.  During their first year of operation, in addition to electing officers and creating their own bylaws, they have:

  • Designed and had T-shirts made
  • Volunteered in our Thrift Shop
  • Volunteered with our OSB program at Target,  as personal shoppers for students getting school clothes
  • Organized a “Showers of Blessings,” distributing blankets, backpacks and socks to the homeless
  • Participated in the Mission Hills-Hillcrest Library book pass
  • Created two philanthropic programs they call “Ability Athletics” and “Home at Heart”
  • Planned participation in upcoming Special Olympics Track Meets

We are very proud of these young people, and their commitment to serving the community!

As they declare on their T-shirts, “The Future is Bright!”
