Assistance League volunteers work on a weekly basis with students in three local elementary schools, in two districts. Students select books at their grade level to read to their volunteer. When the book is completed students take a computerized quiz on the story content. Just as important as fostering their reading skills is the one to one relationships the volunteers develop with each student, ultimately boosting their self-esteem and building confidence and competence. Teachers support and appreciate this program and are pleased with the progress the students make throughout the school year.

In 2024 - 2025, 7 trained member volunteers provided 483 volunteer hours of reading support to 50 students.
