Jason Zacher, a long distance runner who works at the Cedar Mill Bale’s Thriftway, is hosting a pizza night at Papa’s Pizza on May 17 to raise money for his next charity run.

Papa’s Pizza, 15700 N.W. Blueridge Dr., will donate 50 percent of its pizza orders for that day to benefit Operation School Bell, which provides clothing for needy children through the Assistance League of Greater Portland.

Zacher, a Sherwood resident, will run 371 miles (the equivalent of two marathons per day or approximately 54 miles) once he begins his latest event on Oct. 16; he’ll start on the Santa Monica Pier in Santa Monica, Calif.

“I have always dreamed of seeing it, and I guess running (on it), I will really see it,” Zacher said of the famed pier. He will run for seven days in a row along Highway 101, the coastal highway.
