2024 Award Recipient: Carolyn Pitcher

Carolyn Pitcher is a long-time member of Assistance League® of Amador Valley, and has served as the Corresponding Secretary, the Chair of Screening Eyes Early Program, and Vice President Philanthropic Programs.

Recently, as Mentor Chair, she reworked and revised the program, which is now flourishing with many existing members serving as mentors to those who have newly joined our chapter. Carolyn also assists her husband, Dave, in selling hundreds of plants to local Rotary members in very generous support of our annual Poinsettia Sale fundraiser.

How The Ada Edwards Laughlin Award Came To Be

History

Award recipients are chapter members who have been a member for a significant number of years, and have given outstanding “behind the scenes” service. The award is named for the co-founder of Assistance League who was less visible and filled the role of hardworking “behind the scenes” assistant to Anne Banning.

Ada Edwards Laughlin was a graduate of Stanford University (1898) and a pioneer with women’s college basketball. She was active in many Los Angeles organizations but her favorite was Assistance League. She was instrumental in the development of Assistance League as a national organization in 1935.
