The 60th Annual Crystal Ball was held on March 2 at the Roswell Convention & Civic Center. Assistance League of Chaves County presented 18 seniors who have each volunteered over 120 hours during the past four years to our community. Family and friends joined them for a dinner and dance to celebrate and honor them for this accomplishment.

Assisteens® is a teen auxiliary of Assistance League that involves learning to serve others, develop lasting friendships and gain perspective of the community they live in. They enjoy volunteering with the Down Syndrome Foundation of Southeastern New Mexico, making fleece blankets for CASA, ushering at the Roswell Symphony Orchestra and many other activities.

They also attend a wide variety of presentations about such topics as personal safety, etiquette, CPR/Project Heart Start and how to prepare for an interview. Assisteens hold a yearly food drive for Harvest Ministries and are involved in a fundraiser to help with Assistance League’s Operation School Bell® Program.

The Assisteens wish to thank their families, friends, Assistance League and the community of Chaves County for the opportunity to serve, learn and make a difference in the lives of others. For more information about Assisteens, contact alccroswell@hotmail.com or 575-622-5255.
