Chaves County – Promotes Literacy

To promote literacy for children in Chaves County, Assistance League Chaves County joined in Assistance League ACTION! Week in honor of national founder Anne Banning’s February birthday. Locally, each K-8 student scheduled for Operation School Bell® appointments on February 23 at the chapter house at 2601 N. Aspen in Roswell received new school clothes, personal care items, shoe vouchers, and individual choice of two books from our Book Drive. Pictured in the back row are Assisteens Cameron Lucero, Anyka Gamboa, and Booke Flowers assisting Suesanna and Amelia Nunez (front row) with their new clothing and book choices. ACTION! Week is a nationwide endeavor by our all-volunteer organization to help children succeed in school by providing new school clothing; health assistance and literacy enrichment.
