Each year Assistance League chapters throughout the country participate in Make A Difference Day. For more than two decades, USA TODAY and Points of Light partner on Make A Difference Day, the largest national day of community service. It is also supported by the Paul Newman’s Own and Gannett Foundation.

Last year Assistance League chapters nationwide collected just over 80,000 new books.

Make A Difference Day is a day to celebrate the power of people to make a difference. Assistance League of Wilmington has traditionally purchased and collected new books to give to children in New Hanover, Brunswick and Pender counties through our Operation School Bell program.

This year, Assistance League of Greater Wilmington has three locations participating in the 2016 Make A Difference Day children’s book drive. You can go to any of these three locations:

    • Learning Express — 3804 Oleander Drive (next to Whole Foods), Wilmington
    • Pomegranate Book Store — 4418 Park Avenue (at Kerr and Park), Wilmington
Assistance League of Wilmington Thrift Shop — 420 Eastwood Rd., Wilmington

Make A Difference Day will be running through Monday, Oct. 24, at each of these locations.

Assistance League of Greater Wilmington is a nonprofit all-volunteer organization that puts caring and commitment into action through its philanthropic programs serving children, families and seniors in the tri-county area.
