The Costume Bank in downtown Los Altos seeks volunteers to help in the shop, assist customers and mend and create new costumes.
The Costume Bank is the fundraising arm of Assistance League of Los Altos, a community service organization that supports those in need in Los Altos and surrounding towns.
Volunteer opportunities are also available in the philanthropic programs run by the Assistance League.
• HOME (Housing Of Medical Emergencies) apartments at Stanford Hospital needs a volunteer to oversee its library of books and games and a volunteer to set up and lead bingo or other games monthly. HOME provides low-cost housing to outpatients needing to stay near Stanford during treatment.
• Baby Bundles needs a volunteer to help assemble bassinets given to low-income mothers when their babies are born. Assistance League volunteers fill the bassinets with diapers, clothes, toys and blankets. North Santa Clara County Public Health nurses distribute the bassinets to their obstetrics patients.
Proceeds from the Costume Bank support the Assistance League’s work.
