Montgomery County – Assistance League celebrates dressing over 70,000 students

Operation School Bell ®, the signature program of Assistance League, annually provides new school clothing for over 4000 students attending Montgomery County Schools. This year, the chapter is celebrating a total of over 70,000 students dressed since the program’s inception in 1988.
For the members who have helped at a shopping event, the greatest reward has been the smiles and appreciation on the faces of both the children and the parents.
Aside from dressing students, Operation School Bell supports literacy in our community by: annually donating books to our non-Title 1 schools, participating in a Dr. Seuss reading program, and, most recently, participating in our Reading Buddies program through the month of June at Sam Houston Elementary School. At the close of last year, we had served 20,493 students with our literacy program.
