Montgomery County – Benefits from Real Men of Montgomery County Style Show

A group of businessmen and elected officials will hit the catwalk Thursday as part of the Conroe/Lake Conroe Chamber of Commerce annual Real Men of Montgomery County Style Show benefiting the Assistant League of Montgomery County.

The event will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Big Sky Barn, 13420 Forest Lane in Montgomery. Tickets are still available through the Chamber.

Courtney Galle, director of Program Development with the Chamber, said this year marks the fourth annual show that was started by former Chamber president Scott Harper.

“The Chamber used to always have an annual style show at its August luncheon,” she said. “But they wanted to do something a little different so they came up with the concept of having men model instead of ladies.”

While the event began with featuring all elected officials, Galle said the show has expanded to include local businessmen. Models walking the catwalk this year include Brian Bondy, JJ Hollie, Guy Barker, Cody Spence, Hector Forestier, Ken Kreger, JD Lambright, James Nowak, Luke Volz, Christian Anderson, Brian Albert, Rodney Anderson, Dick Schissler, Andrew DuBois, Josh Fowler, Gene DeForest, Mike Stapleton, Will Metcalf and Brett Ligon.

John Husbands, who sits on the board for the Assistance League, also will be a featured model in the show.

Janita Love, president of the Assistance League of Montgomery County, said her organization is excited to be a part of the event – not only to benefit from funds raised but to have Husbands participate and showcase items from the Assistance League Thrift Store in downtown Conroe.

“We are looking forward to having more funds so we can help make a difference in the lives of more people in Montgomery County,” said Love, adding that the organization supports nine programs, including Tender Loving Dolls. Tender Loving Dolls provides handmade dolls to agencies in the county that counsel children.

“We only serve Montgomery County residents, none of our funds go outside the county,” she said. “We are in the business to help people.”

Some of the sponsors for the event include Woodforest National Bank, Consolidated Communications, The Courier, DJ Dave Productions, Big Sky Barn, Melonhead Photo, A Different Bloom, Events Plus, McKenzies’s BBQ, Dillard’s, Academy, H-E-B, Assistance League, Boot Barn, Jos A. Bank and Grand Central Park.
