Assistance League of Montgomery County honored their 2015-16 scholarship recipients at a reception on August 6th at the Board Room of the Assistance League Thrift Shop.

Eighteen recipients and their guests attended and shared meaningful personal testimonials and connected with each other.

Among the honorees was Lutishie Taylor. Taylor was one of the first recipients of Assistance League’s Return to Education Scholarship in 2010.

She expressed her extreme thankfulness for the support as it allowed her to complete her Associate’s degree in Paralegal Studies from Lone Star Community College. Since then she has gone on to obtain her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston.

Currently, Taylor is working on her Master’s degree in Non-Profit Management from the University of Houston. She hopes to continue her studies and obtain her law degree, with the goal of giving assistance to others having loves ones with special needs.

She has seen others struggle with the legal complexities of getting assistance for their special needs family members.

“I am just so proud of Assistance League of Montgomery County for helping me with my education,” reflected Taylor.

Assistance League of Montgomery County awards six types of scholarships for graduating high school seniors and adults. In total, this year the organization will award over $100,000 to students in Montgomery County.
