Northern Virginia – Installs New Board of Directors

Assistance League of Northern Virginia’s Installation Ceremony for the 2016-17 Board of Directors was conducted on June 13^th during our annual chapter meeting and luncheon.   This year’s meeting was held at Dolce Vita Cucina Italiana in Fairfax and offered a perfect opportunity for members, old and new, to join together to celebrate our chapter’s successes for the year.  Pat Thompson, president of Assistance League of Northern Virginia, 2014-16, proudly thanked ALL members for dedicating their time and energy to improving the lives of children in need.  Pat spoke from the heart and asked members to reflect upon the significant impact their hard work has had on the community we serve.  Member volunteers were commended for donating over 7,000 hours of service in support of our philanthropic programs which touched the lives of 17,101 children this school year.   As a token of appreciation, each board member was presented with a personal thank you note, a 10-year anniversary pin and a gift card from the outgoing president.  Board members expressed their sincere gratitude for Pat’s leadership and support over the past two years.  Special recognition was also given to Gail Banks, Marty Le Van and Wilma Bastian for their outstanding achievements with respect to our signature Operation School Bell^® program, Weekend Food for Kids.
