Northern Virginia – The Cecil & Irene Hylton Foundation Funds Will Support Programs For Elementary Students

Assistance League of Northern Virginia is extremely gratified that The Cecil & Irene Hylton Foundation has again awarded the chapter a generous grant. The Hylton Foundation, based in Prince William County, has been supporting nonprofits in the area for more than 3 decades and Assistance League is honored to have been a recipient of their support for the past several years.

Before the pandemic, the nonprofit used the Hylton grant funds to support its Weekend Food for Kids Program, providing monthly food bags for disadvantaged students at elementary schools in Prince William County. The food bags helped ensure that those children had food to sustain them over the weekend when school-provided meals were not available. When schools closed last spring, Assistance League switched to providing grocery store gift cards to provide critically needed relief to food-insecure families at these schools. The grant from The Hylton Foundation will fund the charity’s continued support for families at one of its partner schools in Prince William County.
