Santa Monica – Assistance League Collects 160 Books for Local Children

Did you know October 24 was National Make A Difference Day, a children’s book drive sponsored by USA Weekend magazine for more than 20 years.  It’s become the largest national day of community service.

This year’s slogan “readers make leaders”, helping to open the world to children while promoting literacy.

in 2012 Assistance League was one of 10 honorees, in 2013 received an All-/Star award and last year 110 chapters participated collecting 94,127 books nationwide.

This year 120 chapters participated – Assistance League of Santa Monica was among them and collected 160 books which will be distributed to children in local schools.

Certainly another one of the ways Assistance League is demonstrating “caring and commitment in action.”
