San Antonio – Provides Essential Service; Prepares to Reopen Thrift Shop

At Assistance League of San Antonio, member volunteers are busy preparing for the thrift shop reopening and the fall programs.  The sales from the Thrift House provide nearly half of the funding required to support our eight philanthropic programs aimed at transforming lives and strengthening our community.  We have missed our customers and look forward to their return.  The store is cleaned and being stocked.  There will be some protocols to follow when we reopen; those will be announced closer to the reopening date.

During COVID-19, one of our programs, Togs For Tots, was declared an essential service by the City of San Antonio and remained open providing clothing, books and personal care items to the infants and toddlers of San Antonio.  When Operation School Bell® reopens this fall, the needs of the children in the community will be greater than before.  The Operation School Bell staff is working with the various ISDs to determine how best to meet those needs.
