Sierra Foothills – Gives to Little League

The recent opening day for the Hangtown Little League at Union Mine High School in El Dorado was especially memorable thanks to a generous donation.

During the opening ceremony, Assistance League of Sierra Foothills President Carol Kovak handed Hangtown Little League President Mikol Maitland a check for $4,200.

Assistance League of Sierra Foothills “Sports Locker” program awards scholarships to children who want to play organized youth sports but do not have the means. This year Assistance League has awarded more than 120 scholarships to local baseball leagues and soccer clubs.

Hangtown Little League is a 100-percent volunteer organization with a policy that every child be given the opportunity to play baseball. When families cannot afford the cost of registration, the league finds a way.
