New arrivals can bring new unmet needs and urgent concerns for mothers. Combining resources and maximizing outreach efforts, two longstanding community service organizations have teamed up to help mothers in need and their newborns. Assistance League of Southeastern Michigan is supporting Rochester Area Neighborhood House by donating 10 Pack ‘n Play portable cribs and a generous supply of Wee Help layette kits for distribution to mothers who require newborn basics and clothing. Additionally, Assistance League is supporting Neighborhood House parent education by providing instructional materials, class attendance incentive gifts and healthy snacks to encourage wellness programs for mothers and their babies.

Assistance League and Neighborhood House both serve the same mission: to help meet basic needs of community members. For some mothers, the cost of caring for a child can be overwhelming.  The Wee Help program provides mothers with a kit that includes a new receiving blanket, bottle, pacifier, bib, washcloth, diapers, sleepers, undershirts, baby book and a hand-knitted hat.

“Assistance League is happy to provide Wee Help layette kits, cribs and educational support materials in order to keep children safe, warm and surrounded with love.  We are helping our youngest members of society with basic needs and we will continue to do so honorably and compassionately,” said Marjorie DiLiddo president.
