Temecula Valley – Receives Community Improvement Designation Funding

The Assistance League of Temecula Valley, the Golden Valley Music Society and the Hemet/San Jacinto Chamber of Commerce were among the organizations which were allocated Community Improvement Designation funding during the Sept. 18 Riverside County Board of Supervisors meeting.

The supervisors’ 4-0 vote, with John Tavaglione absent, provided $3,000 to the Assistance League of Temecula Valley, $1,500 for the Golden Valley Music Society and $1,000 to the Hemet/San Jacinto Valley Chamber of Commerce.

Each county supervisor has a discretionary CID budget which can be allocated to nonprofit organizations, public agencies, county departments or other organizations with programs which serve the social needs of the county’s population. The recommendations must be ratified by a majority board of supervisors vote. Supervisor Chuck Washington recommended the allocations from his District 3 budget for the organizations.

The Assistance League of Temecula Valley is based in Temecula. Its activities include “Operation School Bell,” which provides new school-appropriate clothing for economically disadvantaged children from kindergarten through 12th grade, and the CID funding will be used for that project.

The Golden Valley Music Society is headquartered in Murrieta. The CID grant will allow fourth-grade students in the Murrieta Valley Unified School District to participate with local orchestra programs.

The Hemet/San Jacinto Valley Chamber of Commerce will use its CID award for the Hemet State of the City breakfast which will take place Nov. 1 and is intended to educate local residents and businesses about Hemet’s economic development activities.
